What is changing for Wine Service Cooperative members?
Through a new partnership announced November 2, 2026, Yandell provides WSC member wineries with case goods storage, fulfillment, and transportation, plus expanded services including tanker transportation, dry goods storage, and pre- and post-bottling value-added services. You keep the same people and the same Napa home for your wine.
Is Yandell buying the Co-Op?
No. This is a partnership. WSC remains a member-owned cooperative, and members keep their membership and ownership stake in WSC.
Will my wine be moved?
No. Your wine stays at the Co-Op facility in Napa, and there is nothing you need to do.
How do I check my inventory?
Use the Wine Service Cooperative portal, which is linked from our Partner Portal page, or go to it directly. Your existing username and password still work, and your systems, processes, and inventory visibility carry over.
Who do I contact with questions?
Most of WSC's current staff are joining the Yandell team, so you will keep working with the people who know your wines, inventory, and account. Yandell's Customer Service Control Tower also gives you one place to go for day-to-day support. You can reach us at (877) 750-0012.
Will my rates or terms change?
Your signed member agreement sets your rates and terms. If you have questions about your agreement, contact your account manager.
Can I use other Yandell services?
Yes. Members can add transportation (dry van, bulk tanker, and barrel moves), direct-to-consumer and wine club fulfillment, value-added services, and nationwide freight brokerage through Yes! Logistics. Ask your account manager for a quote.

Where do you operate?

Transportation

Overview

What types of transportation does Yandell offer?
We move wine three ways: bulk wine and juice by tanker, bottled and packaged goods by dry van, and barrels, glass, and equipment by flatbed. See Transportation.
Can you ship outside California?
Yes. Yes! Logistics, our brokerage division, arranges freight across the country.

Tanker (Wine & Bulk Liquids)

What is bulk wine tanker transportation?
Bulk wine tanker transportation moves wine or juice in large, food-grade stainless steel tankers instead of bottled cases. It is the most cost-effective way to move high volumes between wineries, storage facilities, and bottling locations.
When should a winery use a tanker instead of bottled shipping?
Wineries typically use tankers when:
  • Moving wine between production facilities
  • Transferring wine before bottling
  • Shipping large volumes (thousands of gallons)
  • Reducing packaging and handling costs
How many gallons can a wine tanker hold?
A standard wine tanker typically holds 6,300 to 6,500 gallons, depending on configuration and weight limits. Smaller-capacity tankers are also available for short runs or wineries with tight turns.
How is wine protected during tanker transport?
Wine is protected through:
  • Food-grade stainless steel tanks
  • Sealed compartments to prevent contamination
  • Temperature considerations based on product sensitivity
  • Strict sanitation protocols between loads
What is tanker sanitation and why does it matter?
Tanker sanitation means the tank is fully cleaned and sterilized before wine is loaded. It prevents contamination, protects wine quality, and keeps every load in compliance with food-grade transport standards.
What are the biggest risks in bulk wine transportation?
Common risks include:
  • Improper sanitation
  • Temperature exposure
  • Delays during harvest season
  • Cross-contamination from previous loads

How Yandell does it: Every tanker is cleaned and sanitized before wine is loaded, each wash is documented, and we plan harvest capacity with our winery partners ahead of the season.

What makes a tanker logistics provider reliable?
A reliable provider offers:
  • Proven sanitation processes
  • Experience with wine-specific handling
  • Strong scheduling during harvest
  • Local knowledge of Napa, Sonoma, and Central Valley routes

How Yandell does it: Yandell has hauled for Napa, Sonoma, and Central Valley wineries for decades with our own tanker fleet, including Eagle’s bulk wine tankers, and drivers who know winery crush pads and tight turns.

Dry Van (Bottled & Packaged Goods)

What is dry van transportation for wineries?
Dry van transportation moves finished bottled wine, empty glass, and other packaged goods on pallets in enclosed trailers. It is the most common way to ship finished goods to warehouses, distributors, and retailers.
When should wineries use dry van shipping?
Dry vans are used for:
  • Finished bottled wine
  • Distributor shipments
  • Retail deliveries
  • Transfers between wineries and warehouses
  • Empty glass and cans going to storage or bottling lines
How many cases of wine fit in a truckload?
A standard 53' dry van usually carries 22 pallets, or roughly 1,200 to 1,500 cases depending on configuration. The trailer has room for up to 24 pallets, but the weight of wine and glass usually caps a load at 22 so the truck, trailer, and freight stay under the 80,000-pound legal limit.
How are wine pallets protected in transit?
Wine pallets are protected using:
  • Stretch wrap and corner boards
  • Proper pallet stacking
  • Load bars and straps inside the trailer
  • Careful loading to prevent shifting
What are the most common issues with wine shipments?
  • Broken bottles from poor stacking
  • Heat damage during summer
  • Missed delivery windows
  • Improper handling by carriers without wine experience

How Yandell does it: Our drivers and warehouse teams handle wine every day. We stack, wrap, and secure every pallet for glass, and plan around delivery windows. When a load needs temperature control, Yes! Logistics can provide temperature-controlled box vans and trailers.

Why choose a wine-specialized carrier for dry van freight?
Wine-specialized carriers understand:
  • The fragility of glass
  • Compliance requirements
  • Winery delivery schedules
  • Seasonal demand around harvest, bottling, and club shipments

How Yandell does it: That’s Yandell. Wine has been our focus since 1945, backed by more than 450 pieces of owned equipment and a dedicated customer service representative for every account.

Flatbed (Barrels, Glass & Equipment)

What is flatbed transportation used for in the wine industry?
Flatbeds carry oversized or open-deck freight such as:
  • Empty or full wine barrels
  • Glass bottles and packaging materials
  • Winery equipment and tanks
When do wineries need flatbed shipping?
Flatbeds are typically used when:
  • Freight will not fit inside a standard trailer
  • Loading requires crane or side access
  • Moving bulk materials like glass or barrels
How are wine barrels transported safely?
Barrels are secured using:
  • Straps and load securement systems
  • Proper stacking methods
  • Protective spacing to prevent shifting or damage
What are the risks with flatbed transportation?
  • Weather exposure
  • Improper load securement
  • Damage during loading and unloading

How Yandell does it: We secure every barrel, glass, and equipment load to wine industry standards. Tarping for weather protection is available for an additional charge.

What should wineries look for in a flatbed provider?
  • Experience with wine industry materials
  • Proper securement practices
  • Reliable scheduling around production timelines
  • Knowledge of winery and supplier locations

How Yandell does it: Yandell regularly moves barrels, glass, and equipment between wineries, cooperages, glass suppliers, and bottling lines across Northern California, and we schedule around your production timeline.
